Working with 'real' actors....

So. For Penelope’s video being able to work with acclaimed talents Maxine Peake and Kate Dickie was so very eye-opening. As Penelope said, “a phenomenal & inspirational experience…”
Firstly, they were both in Glasgow for other filmings, so we traveled up to them on about 3 days’ notice… They both waived their acting fees for a donation to Medical Aid Palestine.
The internal focus and brilliance that great actors must possess is staggering… This experienc was such an insight into their craft, with ultimate respect for what they do. no script, no rehearsals and proceeded to care, perform and work their magic - really not breaking character until they left the room we were filming in (thanks Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai for the room)! I sort of felt like an imposter with my tiny camera and lo-fi no-budget vibes. But insecurities be damned… no one cared about those things and trusted it would all be great in the end. Eye of the beholder and all that…
